2. Charecteristics of the KTR GEARex® All-Steel Gear Couplings:
– All-Steel Gear Couplings Gearex FA are manufactured by KTR/Germany.
– The steel-encased gear wheel coupling, GEARex, is robustly designed with gears entirely encased in steel, featuring a very short shaft distance.
– The sleeves of the steel-encased gear coupling can be tightly fastened along the shaft direction using positioning screws or couplings. Adjusting the sleeve material and center allows for high torque transmission.
– Advantages:
+ Double cardanic steel gear coupling
+ High torque up to 135,000 Nm with small dimensions
+ Both centers rotate inward, optimizing energy transfer with a short hub design
+ Meets ATEX and AGMA standards
– Based on the famous crowned tooth gear principle, it avoids edge pressure along the shaft with angular and radial displacements. Additionally, permanent lubrication creates favorable friction conditions for the shaft with virtually non-abrasive operation, combined with high expected service life of the coupling.
– To ensure regular lubrication and monitoring upon installation, there are two hydraulic connections opposite each other on each coupling jacket, thus four connections staggered 90° with the complete GEARex gear coupling.
– The interior space of the coupling is sealed with O-rings (NBR 70 ShA). The splines must be sealed to prevent lubricant from leaking out during assembly.
