3. The principle of operation of the Rotofluid Couplings With Double Delay Champer:

A fluid coupling with a delay filling feature is equipped with an additional chamber to reduce oil flow in the working circuit (Figure 1). The contact chambers are pressurized through adjusted nozzles, which can be set as required (Figure 2). The adjustment of the spray nozzles changes the time required for the oil in the chamber to reach the working circuit. Therefore, it increases or decreases the startup time for the controlled machine.
When all the oil has flowed from the chamber into the circuit, the coupling reaches rated speed, transmitting the necessary torque with minimal slip (Figure 3).
Westcar couplings can be fitted with 1 or 2 delay champer.
– Couplings with 1 delay champer limit the torque ratio Ca/Cn from 180% to 150%, adjusting the amount of oil.
– Couplings with 2 delay stages limit the torque ratio Ca/Cn from 150% to 120%, adjusting the amount of oil.
